Cold Mountain - Waynesville, North Carolina

As Graves’ efforts to preserve the intent of the site have been carefully balanced with all the modern luxuries of an exclusive community, Cold Mountain residents have everything they need within reach, as well as some unexpected perks.

Fishing and River Recreation

Fish stories will not be needed when fly-fishing for trout in the burgeoning Pigeon River. You can pick up your gear at the Outfitters Post on your way to the river. Swim and tube at the swimming hole or catch the sun on the private beach.

Nature Exploration

Hikers and walkers have varying levels of trails and guided hikes to choose from. Horse stables and trails will also be available for the equestrian seeking a trail ride. Bird watchers and stargazers have no shortage of subjects to study in the clean mountain air. If you feel a little more adventurous, campsites and tents are available for overnight outdoor expeditions.

To encourage continuous understanding of the vital role we play in preserving this land, the on-site Nature Cabin offers a glimpse into the magic of the surrounding mountains. Subjects offered include organic cooking classes and art lessons.
