Wilton Graves is a seventh-generation native of the waters surrounding Hilton Head Island where his father, Robert, was instrumental in the progression of that area. Wilton was raised with an appreciation for wildlife and open spaces. Wilton wanted his family and others to live in a place where they could pass the stewardship for the land on to their children. The desire to find a place forever preserved led him to choose the area near their family’s ranch in the Pigeon River Valley in Western North Carolina, and, in turn, to develop the concept of Cold Mountain. The neighboring Pisgah National Forest’s half-million acres guarantee there will always be room to roam. Old-world craftsmanship is a design inspiration for Wilton Graves, himself a third-generation builder. River stones, mature local lumber for the log cabins, and expansive wrap-around porches will be incorporated into the residential designs of Cold Mountain. Homes will have gourmet kitchens, well-appointed baths, large windows, and radiant heat throughout the floors for chilly mornings. Exterior spaces will be equipped for living and dining alfresco. The unique features and layout of Cold Mountain have all the generations of your family in mind. Designing Cold Mountain in congruence with the land and employing modern techniques allow for minimum environmental disturbance and the utmost character and charm.
